tractor1Bultema Farms and Greenhouses is a working farm, to us this means that this is our only way of making a living we truly live off the land! It is owned and operated since 1989, by Barry & Diane Bultema with the help of our three children Nick, Jeremy, Abby, and our faithful employees. We fill (more than once) over 10,000 square feet of greenhouse space. the flowers are sold primarily retail from our farm and from a retail location, Most Feed and Garden Store, in Crete IL. We also custom grow flowers for towns, restaurants, garden clubs, school fundraisers and currently 7 golf courses. Virtually at the same time Barry is planting over 800 acres of field corn and soybeans. Along with this we raise over 35 acres of pumpkin products (all sizes, gourds, Indian corn etc.). The pumpkins are sold retail and semi loads are sold to a distributor and will go to grocery stores ets. We also have over 3,000 fall mums!

Barry has farmed his whole life, and Diane grew up on a farm. He farmed with his father raising vegetables to sell in Chicago, and grain farming. Soon after marrying Diane (1987), Barry's father retired and they decided to open a farmstand and sell vegetables locally as an addition to the wholesale vegetable business and the grain business. They soon started buying and selling flowers in the spring and continued with the vegetables in the summer and into the fall products (pumpkins etc.). The fall entertainment started as just wagon rides out to the pumkin field on Saturdays and people loved it. The flowers also became a hit and Barry and Diane put up the first greenhouse. Times changed, and choices had to be made snd the vegetable part of the business was laid to rest. the greenhouse business was flourishing and the fall pumpkin business took on an entertainment quality. And so what started out as Bultema Produce became Bultema Farms and Greenhouses, Inc.

We would love for you to come and walk through our greenhouses in the spring and enjoy the colors, or come in the fall and view the beautiful mums. But don't forget to come some Saturday in October, sample the treats we have to offer, sit by a fire, feed the goats or take a nice wagon ride out to the pumpkin field. We truly love our lifestyle, (even though it gets a little hectic at times), and would love to share our farm with you!
